coast of Maine | You still can get laquer thinner. After a wash, wipe it down with a damp cloth with laquer thinner, sand the panels with 400 unless rusty then coarser.Blow it off, then wipe again. Then get a cheapo top pot gun at HF.Practice with a 2 part primer(has an activator)and you will get the gun action down a bit.as soon as dry, sand with 400 all over lightly, blow off ,wipe again .Wet your work areas floor with a hose of water.Get a decent paint ,I would not spring for Imron unless its a road truck.Use a hardener(activator) and proper thinner(do NOT use laquer thinner in your paint mix),(your paint should be like light cream in consistency)Adjust your flow and pressure by trying on a hidden area, too much pressure(get a gun mounted pressure regulator and water filter) or two much flow,,there are knobs for both.I like 40 t0 45 lbs air,,watch a couple you tube videos will help, staying the same distance across a panel(nozzle to surface) is an art you can learn,it involves swaying your body while feet are still.,this keeps dry areas away and runs avoided.Recoat after it dries enough that the paint tries to pull your hairs off the back of your finger.3 or 4 coats. | |
