Subject: Feeder house slats - Deere 9770

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I'm replacing the feeder house chains in my Deere 9770 combine. The combine has the cast U-shape style that still look good so I removed them and am transferring them to the new chains. These slats have a notched edge and a smooth edge. They can be installed with the notched edge on the leading edge or the trailing edge. I should have taken a picture before disassembly but I didn't.

I checked a few local combines and found two one way and one the other way. This morning by chance I ran across a Sloan video on YouTube. That combine had them installed the other way. So at the moment, its two one way and two the other way.

Maybe it makes no difference. Maybe it depends on conditions. I didn't have any problems with them but am not sure which way they were.

Comments?
