Subject: RE: Hydraulic Hose - Building my own hoses

SC, MN.
What crimper/dies do you have?
As far as hose it’s going to depend on what fittings your dies will crimp.

I have moved on from the hose from discount hyd. I’m definitely not saying it’s a poor choice! I have some concerns that it doesn’t last as long as it should.
There are several online sources.
I’ve changed to getting my hose from Hydraulics Direct.
100R2 is considered SAE standard hyd. hose

I have weather head dies so I can crimp weather head U series & or Vari Crimp. I prefer Vari Crimp. They are much more reasonable than weather head.

I get them from IFACS here in SC MN. You can get Vari crimp from Hydralics World in Sioux Falls.

What ever you decide just make sure the hose & fittings are compatible!

All fittings have a crimp spec, find it on there web site print it out & have it by your machine. It’s dangerous if you slap together piss poor hose assembles. Get a cheap caliper ($10-12) to check your crimps, it’s simple. Making your own hoses is convenient & you will save a lot of money.
