Subject: RE: JD 9870 combines

Morris, IL
We just sold a 7720 with 8k hours original motor, now rest of combine sure wasn’t but I’m sure those days are long gone. I think could be right about HP I’m thinking it may be worthwhile risk. Seems like they are getting reasonably priced, I’d probably do jd635 for now they are cheap too, at some point like idea of 40’ Draper especially ground over east like last year couldn’t hardly get 1’ tall 50 bushel beans in head. I’m sort of too cheap for my own good sometimes parts eat me alive. I sort of feel like combines may get cheaper in few months so not in any rush.

On the auger you probably should build a slide grate to cut flow corn off. That way you don’t have depend on guys opening grates on hopper right. Maybe we’ve talked about this before? someone said a 30 or 55 gallon barrel works good attached to trailer jack or wagon gear of some kind I made one for wet auger under hopper bin works awesome don’t have to seal 100% just most.
