How long did you run it for before finding no hydraulics? Those pumps don't like to run dry....
Is the oil tank above or below the pump? Getting the pump primed is pretty important. I have had to pack the pump full of grease in the past to make it take oil and start when that tank was below the pump. However, if you have ran it enough already it was damn hot it might be shot IMO.
