Stu just what i've heard no first hand but that sounds all too common on big tractors doesn't it. I wonder if it's emissions that cause some of problems maybe? I'd think 9870 wouldn't have egr? I really don't know much about that stuff just have stayed away. For me working on combines quite a bit is normal but an engine can be killer. You have 635 on yours?

What did ever do with your pit auger?

I think it's mostly emissions but in the case of tractors 560 hp from a 13.5l seems like the upper limit if not over. The 9.0l in my combine is still strong knock on wood but it has more blowby than I'd like for 3500 hours. We run a Macdon FD70 35' and I would not want anything smaller. My 12 row 612c is also a good match and its nice not having to go fast.

Pit auger worked well once I figured out the electrical side of things. It made unloading a lot easier but the 20 hp motor doesn't cut it in wet corn so I'm putting a 30 hp on for this fall.
