Chatham Ontario. | We plant the rows you saw still standing with a 16 row planter. Rows 1,6,11 and 16 are designated to the male rows. Then usually, on a different day, the male is planted using a special planter because it pollinates at a different time. We are timing the planting to make sure the plants cross pollinate to create the hybrid. We also built an interplanter.
Then after pollination the male rows are removed with more specialized equipment in front of a high clearance machine. Lots of trips through a seed corn field in one season.
