Deere had changed the filters on the 40 series model tractor and when you use the new filter, you had to change the fitting that screwed into the filter base because there was a difference in the depth of the threads, with the wrong filter installed. It was only being held by about 2 or 3 threads causing the filter to be blown off. Just another engineering marvel.

Sure could have been our issue. Been many days since then but I remember seeing the threads on the filter and they didn’t look “machined” enough. |
