I'm a terrible painter but do as good of a job as you possibly can even if it's more work/time because nothing sucks more than a crappy paint job. I have a gravity wagon grandpa painted with an oil undercoating gun, runs everywhere and never scuffed it at all. Paint would fall off if you looked at it wrong and didn't dare power wash it. Had to rinse the mud off with a garden hose. Cheap hardware store paint that faded to chalky green in a couple years and usually sat inside 75% of the time. I power washed and scraped and sanded as much of the old paint off that I could and repainted but it's still not great but I'm too cheap to either sandblast it and start over or trade it.
