Subject: Painting grain cart - need tips

Central/Northeast Missouri
Wanting to paint my Parker 938 grain cart. Would like to paint it black. Already have decals purchased and headed this way.

I’m not looking for showroom quality, but would like it to look somewhat presentable, maybe not a “fifty foot paint job” but more like a 10’.

My thoughts were to clean and degrease it with power washer. Spend an afternoon with a DA hitting all the big spots that I can, then use a harbor freight paint gun to run a pass of primer and then black paint. It doesn’t have any pitted rust, but a few areas of surface rust. Metal is straight, just spent a lot of its life outside.

Does anyone know the paint code for the newer Parker grain carts that are painted black so it would match?

It’s too big to fit in my shop, so will have to paint outside… Was planning to paint in the morning before wind picks up, then it would have all afternoon to dry.

Any tips or product recommendations are greatly appreciated!
