The newer units destroy themselves. A 6L80 will have the torque converter grind itself to death, sending metal through the whole transmission.
That's nice but never had any trouble with them here. I don't know the models but looking that up is the 6 speed that they quit making in the pickups in 2019. The OP was talking 10 speeds and as I said never an issue here. Never had any trouble with our workhorse 6 speeds that take a pounding on the farm and our terrain. Over 100,000 miles on the 2 we currently have left on the farm. Just replaced a tranny that was leaking at the input shaft with over 300,000 miles on a 2002 5 speed. It then wouldn't shift after replacing the seal so with the age just replaced it. Had lots of transmission issues with the early 2000 to 2010 gas engine 4 and 6 speed transmissions.
Like I said no real issues with the newer ones since 2010. Guess if we lose one we will get it fixed since they rarely have issues here where we work them. |
