Subject: Chevy Diesel and 10 Speed Transmission A Big Major Disappointment!!!

NEMO
Purchased a new 2022 Chevy Diesel one ton cab/chassis truck with the 10 speed automatic transmission on December 16, 2022.

Added a Hydra-Bed bale bed January of 2023. Seldom use the bale bed for feeding cattle as we have older chore trucks to abuse until the new gets wore off of this one.

End of July of this year at around 46,000 miles the truck would barely pull itself. Torque convertor was going out.

I have a buddy that is a mechanic and he said to get Chevy to replace the transmission because the failed torque converter would ruin it to.

Dealer said no go on the transmission as GM only replaces failed parts under the warranty.

Wait a couple weeks for the torque converter to show up and when they tear into the project they find out the transmission oil is full of metal. So good news, they are going to replace the transmission.

Bad news the transmission is on SPAC and they don't know when they will get a transmission!!! Has anyone heard of SPAC???

The best I can describe it is that under SPAC we are at the mercy of GM and when they decide to let a transmission go. The have no idea when that will be. Could be a month, 6 months or maybe even up to a year!!!

Meanwhile a week ago they have given me a little Buick SUV to drive, which I am sort of thankful for, but I can't haul a hay bale, pull a header wagon, or hook on to the gooseneck trailer to haul livestock. UGH!!!! It's a pain in the butt.

I suggested to the dealership let's pull a transmission out of a new truck on the lot and let it sit for a year waiting on a replacement!!!

Again, has anyone else heard of SPAC?

Has anyone else had trouble with the Chevy torque converter and 10 Speed automatic transmission at less than 50,000 miles?

Looking back I wonder if it's been slipping a long time and I didn't know it. Fuel milage has completely been a joke with this Chevy truck compared to our Dodges. It gets 10 to 12 just running around and as soon as you hook an empty aluminum 24 foot Wilson trailer up to it the milage drops to 7. Any headwind or hills and it drops further yet - empty! Dodges get 10 to 12 mpg loaded trailer full of cattle. 13 to 15 running around and feeding hay.

Another complaint is the fuel tank systems on cab/chassis trucks. The vents are not designed (or positioned properly) for when a bed is installed. The Chevy had one fuel tank collapse just after the 36000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Years ago I had this also happen on a Dodge cab/chassis but the only difference is that Dodge went ahead and covered the tank even though it was just out of warranty. Chevy could care less

I seriously doubt that I will ever buy a new Chevy truck again. Major disappointment and I regret buying this one as it is currently completely worthless to me waiting on GM to decide to let a transmission go to fix it.

Sorry for the ranting but tonight ticked me off when I needed to hook to a trailer.
