Subject: Fall tillage for cornstalks

SW WI
Looks like I don’t have enough hp for 7 shank ripper like a Case IH 870/875 or Kuhn Krause 7 shank.

Here’s what I’m looking to do….heavy ground that I feel would benefit from more aggressive tillage than just my typical fall VT pass. No chopping head. I would like just 1 pass in the fall, then my VT pass in spring to plant into. What can go thru standing stalks without plugging (assuming not completely horrible fall weather) leave ground smoothish for just that Vt pass in the spring? And can be pulled by not much over 300 hp?

What would my plan B look like? Disk first to get tillage thru? Disk after some tillage if to clumpy and did not disk stalks first? Minimum of trips would be a priority. Also not having 5 different implements.

Probably won’t have a chopping head anytime soon. Maybe can upgrade to calmer rolls next year on corn head.

Need some ideas. Thanks
