Mid Michigan
You have to have some kind of crumber on the front of the chain to keep the trench bottom somewhat clean or you can use a tile scoop to clean it. I've done many runs of tile with my trencher. Longest about 1/4 mile. You have to get the tile in before the trench collapses. Sand Can be very bad. You don't need a 6 inch trench, only 4 inch. I used a transit stick to keep the grade close. About as fast as a turtle walking but even a turtle will eventually make it across a field! Mine is a case 360 and will trench 3-5 feet pretty well. Has a power angle backfill blade that closes the trench very well. Pushes like a little bulldozer. Also has a backhoe on the back in case you encounter a big rock in the field.
