It sure looks like it's been eating too much dust to me, that first pic looks awful, the second pic looks pretty good, and the third pic is a little troubling, but not causing turbo problems.

Check for exhaust manifold leaks, maybe add a boost gauge so you can see what it's doing.


Is a 2577 mechanical pump? I have seen the diaphragm in the Air-fuel control housing get a leak, and not open up correctly...but you say it's smoking, so seems like it has enough fuel. Would indicate an air issue...are your air filters clean? Not black or discolored from exhaust? If they have an exhaust driven aspirator on those combines, the aspirator could be burned off in the exhaust pipe pushing exhaust back to the intake and air filters.
