If it broke in tiny pieces, it's tempered glass, which has a huge stress induced by heating and cooling the glass, so it's incredibly strong, and breaks into small, safe pieces. The downside of that tempering is some pieces will break on their own. Sometimes it pops coming out of the oven, and some of them pop at any point in it's life. If you don't want tempered glass, you get laminated glass like car windshields, that crack easily. That's all there is. | |
