Almost looks like impurities coming out of the crack is not allowing the braze to adhere. Solder may have been a better choice (lower heat) but if your making the crack worse yes it probably has lots of stress in the metal and will need a replacement. Can you find some sort of new generic tank that will fit the tractor well enough?
