Spent a decade in 70 series deeres and demoed a few s670's.
Demoed a 7230 and bought an 8230 almost right away. (Found a deal on the 82)
Red machine does a better job while putting less on the ground. Way more simple to grease. More settings and adjustments to fine tune the rotor. They've been building red rotaries for 45 years and it shows. I'm convinced Deere has a lousy design overall but dealer support trumps everything for most, and in most areas deere has the best support. If they were painted silver you couldnt give one away and they would be a notorious turd.
We have a good red dealer in our area, a very good silver dealer, and a decent green one. As far as dealer "technical/technician" support, the silver dealer is the best, hands down. Parts, I don't know for certain who is best, but as far as having parts in stock, it would likely be the silver dealer. One thing I do know, there are more green ones around here than any other brands combined, if that tells you anything. Are the green ones perfect?? Nope. But somewhere along the way folks apparently got to liking the green ones over the others for some reason or another even if the green dealer hasn't been stellar with technical support.
