So after the great grain market crash in 2024. What is the best way to store grain on the farm this fall instead of taking it to town and racking up big storage bills? I am a STO needing to store about 15k bushels. I have priced bins over the last 4 years, and decided away from them during the covid inflation era. My first quote from 2019 bloated to double in 2022. I kinda thought about grain bagging, or ground piling. What kind of risks or losses can one expect by bagging corn that usually is around 19-22% moisture, or beans that generally are 12-14% ? I am putting up a new equipment storage building, and have thought of trying to flat store it on the gravel, but am not too sure thats the right thing to do either. In a perfect world I would have more bins than cargill, but my checkbook says otherwise. Thanks in advance..
